Cyberspace . . . The Final Frontier

Some more random thoughts. I liked our group thinkfinity lesson on internet safety. I think it would be a great lesson to do with students in high school or even middle school.

I like jing because it seems like it would be an easy site to use.

I don't care for Facebook but it certainly is good to know what students are doing. I'm not all that crazy about the idea that someone could google me.

BrainPop is a very nice resource but it is expensive. With shrinking budgets resources like this are becoming more and more difficult to afford.

I don't recall if we talked about the spyware and malware in the last class, but I would be interested to know more about them.

You're right; we never made it to the discussion of malware and spyware. I've posted links in the session three wiki that will provide you with a good overview of the topics along with the concerns. Take a look at them and let me know if you have additional questions.

Facebook is a mixed bag--it took me a while to get into it, but once I tried it for a few weeks, it became a bit addictive. My wife made fun of me for being on it, but after I set up her account, she ended up being on it more than me!!!

Professionally, I actually chat with my other 6th grade teacher on the daily with it. I also keep up with old friends a lot, too. Yea, I have the random people from high school who I haven't seen or heard from, but there are a lot of good friends that I do keep in touch with.

So, give it a second try; maybe you'll like it.
